Phi Phi Island Dive Trips
Phuket Diving Tours
There are six islands in total that make up the legendary Phi Phi Islands. The two islands south of the main island is where the real diving is at.
There is a drop off just over the ridge and this is where the action kicks off - it’s like walking into a Wild West saloon. There are several species of Trevallies with Tuna and Mackerels darting about on the hunt for food you can see Spanish Mackerel even the odd Black Tip it’s wonderful.
When swimming along the fantasy reef take a lookup and you will see the predators hunting there are Trevallies Tuna and if you are lucky the Chevron Barracudas will be there circling you it’s a wonderful sight.
This is the area where I witnessed the battle of the Moray. Foolishly a young and bold Yellow Edged moray thought it would be a good idea to try and overthrow a rather large and unquestionably fierce moray from his home.
HTMS Kletkaew was sunk on the 19th March 2014 just off the west coast of Phi Phi Ley. It is a large wreck, 47 metres in length weighing in at 382 tons.
Whalesharks come by as well as do Manta Rays, Great Barracudas, Trevallies, Seahorses, Pipefish -in fact, you will be hard pushed to find dive sites so close to land so good anywhere else in the country.
Phi Phi Islands truly are magical and once you have been here you will be hooked. Staying on the main island is an option as there are many hotels guesthouses, there are also many restaurants and other places to eat and drink.
Phi Phi is well worth the visit and if you cannot, stay overnight then a day trip is advised. The beaches, most particularly Maya Beach are idyllic.
Phi Phi island is also available as a diving day trip from Phuket it takes about two and half hours from Chalong and is a wonderful day out.
