Dive Sites - Racha Yai

There are many islands around Phuket and none more beautiful than the Island of Racha Yai.

Racha Yai or as it is sometimes called Raya or Raja Yai is about one and a half hours cruise from Chalong bay on a dive boat, you can get there quicker on Private Speedboat Charter.

Its sister island Racha Noi Lies a little under an hour due south of here and has some terrific dive sites too.

Racha Yai is also a stop of port for some Liveaboards that are diving the Southern Andaman Dive Sites

The beaches of Racha Yai are gently kissed by the crystal clear the Andaman Sea the beaches are the fine white sand, it is the sort of sand that is so fine, it just slips through your toes.

Racha Yai (sometimes referred to as Raja Yai) is very popular with day trippers from Phuket, it is possible to stay the night on the island as there is a wonderful little resort with bungalows dotted along its shoreline –ideal for a peaceful night or two under the starry sky.

Racha Yai is one of the most popular dive spots particularly for new divers and those completing courses such as the Scuba Diver, Open Water, Rescue or Divemaster Course. It is also fantastic for those take part in the Discover Scuba Diver program.

If it’s the scuba diving you have come for then have a quick read through the Dive Site and Day Trip sections on Racha Yai.
